Other Information:
I embrace all opportunities which are offered to me in my university, working and private life. I have actively sought out training schemes at Shop Direct group such as opportunities to gain a First Aid at Work Certificate which has seen me have the extra responsibility of a First Aider within the workplace for a year now which has involved me working with a number of incidents.
Since gaining my First Aid at Work qualification I have been very interested in lifesaving and sought out to complete a Life Guard qualification at the earliest possible moment.
Past Experience :
Over the last 18 months I have developed a multitude of skills which would assist me in this role through continued voluntary and part-time work. I have often sought out opportunities where I can find new and develop existing qualities further.
My Varied part-time work at Finance Company Shop Direct Group has aided me in developing strong interpersonal skills through working in a role of high responsibility where my position involves me making high level decisions on a day-to-day basis to ensure that over 1,000 advisors across two contact centres remain utilised to an optimum level, keeping costs to a minimum.
As well as this I actively volunteer with a Scout Group in Llandudno at major events and excursions to assist in the running of day to day activities as well as ensure the safety of all the children involved. This is a role where I am expected to carry a lot of responsibility and be someone who the youngsters involved in the activities could turn to for assistance and guidance, thus developing varied leadership, communication and problem solving qualities as well as being very enjoyable to participate in.
Why do you want to be a lifeguard?:
I am seeking out the role as a pool attendant not only for financial gain but also as a personal interest. I thoroughly enjoy my training and swim three times a week in my spare time, and would be very interested in a role where I could put my life saving skills into practise. I am specifically interested in attending Camp America in summer 2011. Whilst attending an event at University I was introduced to this prospect and have felt that it would be an opportunity not to be missed. Therefore, I have strived to work towards gaining as much experience as possible before that time to ensure that my application would be successful.
Long Term Career Plans:
I am at a stage in my life where I am unsure of what my long-term intentions are in terms of my career. At present I am studying a e-Business degree at Liverpool University and I am on course to gain a 2:1 (or a possible first), which is likely to see me working in a business environment, potentially as a consultant. However, recently I have been very drawn towards the prospect of studying to become a Paramedic after university as I feel that this is a role that I could excel in and feel although I was contributing in my work. Financially, it would be a better option to follow up my business degree in seeking long-term employment, but if I was to seek out a job that I would enjoy then I would look at the latter option.
