ISRM/ACTIVE IQ FITNESS MANAGEMENT CERTIFICATE BECOMES ‘REPS’ ACCREDITED

The ISRM launched the Fitness Management Certificate in March 2007. A little more than 7 months later we are pleased to announce that it has now been recognised by  The Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS) at  Level 3.  REPS exists to provide  a system of self-regulation for all instructors, coaches, trainers and teachers involved in the exercise and fitness industry. Registration is achieved and maintained through the gaining of qualifications and training which are nationally recognised and which are linked to the National Occupational Standards for exercise and fitness.

The Qualification was Developed in consultation with Health Club operators and Local Authority leisure providers. The ISRM Fitness Management Certificate (FMC) which leads to the Active IQ Level 3 Certificate in Fitness Management is viewed as long overdue to meet a training need for an industry where high staff turnover and under investment in appropriate management training has become the hot issue. The Qualification is the first of it’s kind and now sits on the ‘National Qualifications Framework’ which means it  is eligible for government funding .

Martin Steer the ISRM’s Education and Development Manager commented ‘The FMC is designed principally to bridge the training gap for Fitness Instructors and Duty Managers who are looking to make the step up to  Fitness Manager or Club Manager level. Since it’s launch in March we’ve had 70 aspiring managers enroll on the course and have had enquiries from many hundreds more.  We are confident that with the ever increasing pressure on Clubs to operate efficiently and profitably the demand for this type of course will grow and grow.

The Fitness Management Certificate is sponsored by ‘Multipower’ www.multipoweruk.com
