Active Life are Wigan Leisure & Culture Trust’s dynamic sport and active recreation providers, managing the Trust’s sports centres and swimming pools.
Our aim is to serve the people of the borough, providing excellent customer care
through our staff and facilities.
We are currently looking for temporary staff to support our on-site teams, in the
following categories:
Recreation Assistants
Conference & Catering Assistants
Receptionists
Fitness Instructors
Swimming Instructors
Active Life relies upon trained support staff to provide essential cover for permanent
employees when they are absent from work due to sickness/holidays, or to provide
additional cover in periods of increased demand. This booklet should provide you
with a brief summary of the kinds of duties undertaken within each of the above job
roles, and the experience and qualifications required. Working as trained support staff will enable you to gain
The duties of the Receptionist include:
- To work as one of a Team of Receptionists providing front-of-house services to customers and office support to Management.
- To provide up to date information to all customers and potential customers in relation to services provided by the Active Life.
- To ensure that customers and visitors are welcomed to the Centre in a friendly, helpful and efficient manner.
- To operate the ‘booking’ and ‘payment collection’ service according to approved procedures.
- To account for all small stock items for sale and/or hire.
- To collate statistical information as determined by the Centre Manager.
- To keep up to date records as determined by the Centre Manager.
- To assist with the efficient operation of the formal Customer Complaints/Suggestions’ procedure.
- To provide administrative assistance, e.g. answering the telephone, collecting information, photocopying, etc. for the Unit Management Team.
Requirements:
You must:
- Possess 3 GCSE’s (Grade C or over) or equivalent to include Maths and English
- Language (or have the ability to pass a literacy/numeracy test) OR have
- demonstrated clerical experience.
- have the ability to work within a team.
- have the ability to provide a customer orientated service.
